Yesteryear Collection

Londonderry is a small rural/suburban community about 50km northwest of Sydney. Its Bush Fire Brigade was formed in the 1950's and used many World War II vehicles in its early years.

This Land Rover is one that was purchased from the Australian Army in 1972 for $400, split 50-50 with the local Penrith Council. The Londonderry Bush Fire Brigade installed the removable tank, hose reel and other fire fighting equipment. The vehicle stayed in service for about 12 years.

This Land Rover came to the Londonderry Bush Fire Brigade already painted yellow and remained that way during its service life, whilst other Londonderry Bush Fire Brigade vehicles were painted red.
